Stephan Herr

Stephan Herr will perform outside of Epilogue Books at 109 E. Franklin. Stephan was born in Dusseldorf and emigrated to the US with his parents at age 13. He played first played cornet then switched to flute and has since started playing alto sax. He went back to Germany and attended the Kasseler Musikakadamie for two years. He came back to the states and attended UNC for his Master’s degree. Stephan has played with local bands including Johnathan Byrd’s, UNC jazz bands, and he’s played classical flute with pianist Seth Jones. He currently plays tenor saxophone for the Ambassadors Big Band, based in Chapel Hill. He speaks German, English and French.

Whoop
7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at 140 West

Whoop will perform at 140 West Franklin. Only formed in the fall of 2020, the band has already evolved their weekly barn jams into a hugely relatable, disarmingly charming debut album. A mélange of backgrounds and influences spanning indie, jazz, rock, reggae, and hip-hop, Whoop thrives by letting raw musical instinct be band leader. Nothing is over-played or over-produced; nothing is superfluous or gratuitous in their innately authentic, ego-free explorations of groove, melody – and of the everyday human condition. You can learn more about the band on their website.

Charlie Garnett
7 p.m. – 9 p.m. near Talulla’s

Charlie Garnett will perform near Talulla’s at 456 W. Franklin. Charlie is a Durham-based guitarist playing styles ranging from jazz to funk to rock. He plays with local bands Mellow Swells and Halo Trio and enjoys sharing music with others!
