The Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership is excited to welcome a second round of buskers onto Franklin Street as community members spend Saturday evening with us, supporting local businesses, musicians & venues.

Please continue to mind the 3Ws in accordance with all state and Orange Co. public health guidelines. Do not gather/crowd around the artists, do give a tip and a round of applause from a nearby outdoor seating space.

This event series will support the artists who don’t have stadiums, concert halls or clubs to perform in while adding an ambience, a soundtrack, to our community as we continue to fight through the hard economic times.

Meet the musicians for Oct. 24

Moving West to east, these artists are who you’ll hear as you move through downtown Chapel Hill along Franklin Street AND SAFELY ENJOY MUSIC AT A DISTANCE.

Keegan Heron

Hear Keegan Heron performing Saturday at 450 West Franklin Street (just east of the Chapel Hill Nine Marker).

Keegan is a guitarist and accordion player who also plays banjo. He takes pride in his novelty style and unique instrumental skills. While Keegan’s internet and social media presence is self-described as “low profile,” you can sample him performing an original song on his YouTube page here.

Alice Osborn

Alice Osborn will play Saturday at 400 West Franklin Street (in front of what was formerly The Bookshop of Chapel Hill).

Alice Osborn is a Raleigh-based singer-songwriter who performs folk Americana that’s rooted in the New South. Her music features upbeat tempos, poignant lyrics, catchy melodies, and powerful vocals—check out her latest creation, Searching for Paradise, an album packed with story songs about losing and finding home and hope. She’s currently at work on an album about the powerful women’s voices of the ill-fated Donner Party. Alice’s acoustic originals are influenced by diverse artists such as Natalie Merchant, Phil Collins, and Mary Chapin Carpenter. She is the President of the NC Songwriters Co-op and the artist-in-residence for Western Wake Farmers’ Market. Alice also plays fiddle, mandolin, and bluegrass banjo.

Wake Moody

Catch Wake Moody at 140 West Franklin St. between Rosemary Street & Franklin Street, along Church Street (near Que Chula).

Durham, NC artist Wake Moody stays focused on good vibes, with music that fuses R&B/soul with singer-songwriter pop. “My childhood was sound-tracked by my parents’ favorite R&B, classic rock and soul records,” he explains, an influence apparent in his band’s soulful live shows, featuring hypnotic grooves and three-part harmonies.

Wake Moody’s debut EP, Shivers, released March 2019. Since then he’s played at the NC State Fair, the Eno River Festival, the Pinhook, Local 506 and more.
