The Optimus Awards are excited to announce a first-of-its-kind Triangle-area art showcase at Innovate Carolina Junction (136 E Rosemary Street, Chapel Hill, NC 27514) on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. in conjunction with the UNC Science Expo.
The Optimus Awards are a global showcase for AI-generated art, recognizing daily masterpieces at the intersection of artistry and algorithms. This weekend’s event will focus on showcasing the future of AI-generated art and inviting visitors to ponder a question that challenges traditional perceptions and sparks conversation: “Is It Art?”
In addition to viewing an exhibit featuring 21 AI-generated artworks, attendees will be able to create and take home prints of their own unique art, designed in real-time at workstations hosted by UNC student volunteers who have been immersed in a semester-long Emerging Technologies course taught by William Ammerman at the UNC Hussman School of Media and Journalism.
