We’re huge fans of Mediterranean wines here at the shop, so it’s a thrill to shine our Saturday Tasting spotlight on Sardinia. We’ll be exploring two family estates, starting with the flagship grapes of the island – vermentino and cannonau – from Poderi Parpinello in Alghero. Now in its third generation of family ownership, Giampaolo and Paolo Parpinello have 35 hectares of grapevines in three different locations. The different geographical areas provide a broad range of environments, enabling the winery to cultivate the aforementioned local grape varieties and Monica, Cagnulari, and Torbato. The wines are light, aromatic, and a perfect antidote to summer’s sizzle while complimenting the current farmers market bounty
