C. Albert Blomquist
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Epilogue
C. Albert Blomquist will perform near Epilogue Books at 109 E. Franklin St. Blomquist was born in Durham, North Carolina in 1972, and grew up in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. As an artist, composer and performer, he was an active participant in the vital underground Punk and Metal scenes in that region of Florida in the mid to late 80s, as well as the Indie and Experimental Music communities that developed there in the 1990s.
In 1998 Blomquist moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where he has continued to undertake artistic projects including studio recording, live music performance, experimental home recording, poster making, and video production. He is/has been a member of the bands CRANKSHAFT (No Idea Records), THE KINGSBURY MANX (Yep Roc Records, Overcoat Records, Odessa Records), WORK CLOTHES, WAUMISS (Little Ramona Records), SPIDER BAGS (Merge Records), DAN MELCHIOR BAND (Midnight Cruiser Records, Sophmore Lounge Records), SSSSSSSNCUSA, COLD CREAM, and the electronic music project TEGUCIGALPAN.
Blomquist’s longtime love of traditional Honky-tonk-style Country Music culminated in a debut album featuring 10 original compositions in the Fall of 2020. The follow-up is slated for release in Fall 2022. He performs weekly as a solo act, and fairly often with a full backing band, throughout NC and TN.
The Simple Joy
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., The Purple Bowl
The Simply Joy will be performing near The Purple Bowl at 306 W. Franklin St. The Simple Joy is a four-piece out of Durham, NC, playing original Americana tunes that combine blues, rock, folk, country and other influences with lyric-driven songs and multi-part harmonies. TSJ is Stephen Munoz (lead guitar, lap steel, keys, bass, vocals), Pam McCarthy (drums, vocals), Michael Lowry (bass, lead guitar, vocals), and Tuck Satterfield (rhythm guitar, harmonica, vocals).
Angela & Will
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Talulla’s
Angela & Will will perform near Talulla’s at 456 W. Franklin St. Angela DiPaolo is a violinist and music educator. William Woltz worked for years in classical radio but holds an abiding passion for the music of Buck Owens and Billie Holiday. Together, Angela & Will bring their vocal harmonies and instrumental skills to bear on a growing body of original tunes plus interesting songs from the American landscape, making for a compelling and entertaining musical experience. They are based in Wake Forest, NC.
Special Game Day Performer: DJ Shizz
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Peace and Justice Plaza
DJ Shizz will be out at Peace & Justice Plaza, located at 179 E. Franklin St. A proud Charlotte native and North Carolina Central University alum, she gained her momentum from rocking campus events and parties, weddings, private events, radio events, and homecomings. After graduating from NCCU with a major in Physical Education and concentration in Fitness and Wellness, she furthered her DJ career while joining the radio industry, Hot 97.9FM. She has DJ’d all over North Carolina, including cities like Charlotte, Greensboro, Raleigh, Burlington, and Durham. You can follow DJ Shizz on Twitter and Instagram.
DJ Shizz will be joined by dance groups from UNC. Catch performances by UNC groups such as the Kamikazi Dance Team, Qué Rico Latin Dance Team, and the UNiCorn KPop Dance Team.
Ali Alrabeah
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Midici
Ali Alrabeah will perform near the old Midici location at 100 E. Franklin St. Ali is a songwriter who moved to Chapel Hill from Miami in late 2020. A lover of local music, he spends much of his time performing and producing music with a wide spectrum of artists in the Triangle. His sound is neo soul, middle eastern, and folk inspired.
