Dremzidence is a word coined by Surrayyah and cultivated/co-created by both JéLyn and Surrayyah. It’s inspired by loved ones, black, queer, and trans experiences, and the desire to thrive as their full magical selves. Dremzidence- is a noun/state of being; it is the process of actively resisting forms of oppression by tapping into one’s personal dream world to reconstruct their internal reality, dreaming liberation into their external reality. When one turns within themselves to find their inner flame and power to create, love, rest, thrive, and break through oppressive systems piled on top of them, one taps into their own dremzidence.
Guide to dress code: How do you see yourself in your dreams? Think of the systems and binaries you actively resist, and come dressed as your most liberated self. Lean into your imagination, expansiveness, and abundance.
This installation will be on view until March 4, 2023.
