Welcome to Downtown Chapel Hill!  Downtown offers a variety of parking options, including, short-term metered spaces and longer-term public parking decks and lots. Some businesses offer validated and valet parking and others offer free parking for their customers.

Public Parking Spaces: 850 spaces are managed by the Town of Chapel for public use. Visit the Town's website to learn more about where to find a convenient space- click here.

Private Parking Spaces: In addition to the public spaces, there are a number of private parking options.

The East Rosemary Street Deck: A privately owned deck on the north side of Rosemary Street between Henderson Street and Columbia Street, offers almost 300 parking spaces that are available for public use. The cost is $6 per day.

Free Customer Parking: Many of the larger downtown destinations offer convenient on-site parking for their customers, including:

• University Square Shopping Center, on West Franklin Street between Columbia Street and Mallette Street
• The Courtyard of Chapel Hill on West Franklin Street, at the corner of Roberson Street.
• And many of the Downtown Restaurants and Service Businesses, particularly on East Rosemary Street, West Franklin Street and West Rosemary Street, offer free parking for their customers.

Validated Parking: Some of the East Franklin Street businesses offer validated parking for their customers. While visiting Bank of America or Wachovia on East Franklin Street, ask if they can provide you with a parking token that can be used in Lot 2, at the corner of East Rosemary and North Columbia Street or in the Wallace Parking Deck, between North Columbia Street and Henderson Street.

Discounted Validation Programs: Downtown businesses that are interested in paying for their customers parking have three convenient options: parking tokens, coupons, and monthly accounts. FREE Valet Parking: Enjoy an evening downtown with the ease and convenience of complimentary valet parking from Monday through Saturday at one of 18 participating downtown businesses. Patrons enjoying other establishments can also use the valet service for a $5.00 charge. Drop-off your car at two conveniently located valet parking stands; in front of the UNC Information Technology building(440 West Franklin Street), near the West End Wine Bar or in front of Spanky's Restaurant (101 East Franklin Street).
