Hear Russell Howard performing Saturday at 450 West Franklin Street (just east of the Chapel Hill Nine Marker).
Carrboro’s The Auxiliary is the forthcoming project of songwriter and producer Russell Howard (US). After years touring the country as a solo songwriter, Russell’s musical ambitions began to exceed the boundaries of the acoustic format. From touring with pop production maven Teddy Geiger, to working behind the scenes on Balún’s 2018 record Prisma Tropical, Russell’s expanding horizon of influences spawned a new approach to music making. Never content slotting into any one scene or subgenre, The Auxiliary brings the same sense of “coloring outside the lines dividing mainstream pop and indie folk” (The Dallas Morning News) that defined Russell’s previous work, but with a widened sonic palette of synthesized and electrified sounds, song structures, and instrumentation.
Catherine and Tony will play Saturday at 400 West Franklin Street (in front of what was formerly The Bookshop of Chapel Hill).
Catherine and Tony have been singing and performing together for five years. Their music is self-described as “mostly old country and country/folk with a lot of nice harmony.” The duo recently formed the band, The Twang Bandits, in fall of 2019. The band includes the addition of keyboards, dobro and upright bass and played at the Carrboro Music Festival last October, with their music airing live over the air on WCHL, The Hill, 97.9 FM.
Virtual tip jar: @TwangBandits on Venmo.
Catch Andrew’s music at the intersection of Columbia & Franklin Street (he’ll be under the awning at the location which housed Spanky’s & Lula’s).
Andrew is a solo performer, playing guitar and signing. He has been playing shows around the Triangle for the past 10+ years. Andrew is a regular at the Wakefield Wine Cellar (pre-pandemic) and has also played at venues including Full Steam Brewery in Durham and Gizmo Brew Works in Raleigh.
Listen to Seth as you walk past Peace & Justice Plaza at the corner of Henderson St. and E. Franklin St.
Seth Shamp been performing for more than 20 years and is thankful for a great group here in Chapel Hill (and in Carrboro) that enjoys his shows. Seth has played a few times since COVID restrictions have lightened and really looks forward to continuing to play guitar and sing.
